The air pump pressure is 0.6 - .08 MPA. It can not be used manually without air. The unit will need an air compressor that will provide 87 - 116 PSI operate.

answer 2
You can run this ram on as little as 90psi, but you will need a fair amount of air volume for it to operate well. I have a 30 gallon air tank on my compressure and the motor started running when the ram was only about 1/4 stretched out. So I found another 30 gallon tank and "daisey-chained" it to my current compressor tank. Now the compressor doesn't kick in till the hydraulic ram is almost fully stretched out.

Question

Does the piston retract automatically without pressure pushing it back in?

I want to turn this into a home made log splitter, so once it gets to the end, there will be no pressure pushing the piston back in.

The piston does not retract automatically. It needs to be pushed or to have a vertical load on it.

answer 2
The ram will not retract automatically. It needs pressure to push it back to a closed position. I know someone who also built a log splitter from a ram similar to this. He used garage door springs to retract the ram. Worked well.

The jack will require between 87 and 116 psi of air pressure to operate. You will have to run a separate air line for each jack in order for them to operate simultaneously.

answer 2
You could feasibly daisy-chain multiple jacks together on one air supply line and operate them with one air controller (a simple blow gun would work). The problem you'd have is in how to lower them all sinultaniously. The lowering valve has to be opened manually. I dont see a way to hook the lowering valves together. If you could overcome this part, then you'd have to have a hugh amount of air volume to operate them together.
