Question
Does it work on a horizontal hinged gate?
i have a 14' x 6.5' trailer with a ramp gate that is hinged in the middle horizontally. when you lower the gate the hinge opens out as if your leg was folded tight to your body and hinges like your knee. Will it work on this type of gate and do you mount to the section going "up"to the hinge or the other gate section that will be farthest from the trailer when lowered?

answer 1
It will work on hinged gates as long as it is not over 6 feet. The mounting depends on the size of the gate. It could be either place.

I mounted mine to a four foot long gate that folded in the middle. The cable anchor bolt was located by unfolding the gate and with the gate locked upright to the trailer, finding the point on the leaf furthest from the trailer where the cable could attach without putting tension on the springs. To lower the gate I fold the leaf to the upright position before unlocking the gate and then pull the gate down in the unfolded position. To raise the gate, just pick up with one hand, close and secure the gate and then fold the rear leaf down. The cable will be slack in the folded position.
