When using this Northern Industrial hoist in a double line configuration the only additional part you will need to purchase is a pulley block, please see a few pulley blocks listed below...

Follow these easy steps for double line operation...

1. Spool cable out so that you have enough line after you fold it in half to reach the item you are wanting to lift.
2. Attatch the lifting hook back to the hole in the frame located right above the spool.
3. Add the pulley block (sold separately) to the low point of the cable, this is now being used as your lifting hook.
4. You are now ready to lift up to 1100 pounds, please follow your owners manual instructions.

The hoist comes with a pulley and hook setup that you put over the cable and the hook the existing cable hook to a provided hole on the hoist. When you do this it makes like a basket that the pulley and hook ride on to increase your lifting capacity. It is very simple and works very well when you set up this way. I hopes this answers your question.

Question

can you mount this to a trolley, and then how would you tie this into the ceiling.

I understand how to mount this to the ceiling, but am wondering if it is possible to use a trolley to move it along a track. If so, what products do you carry that could act as a track?
Thank you,
John

This Northern Industrial electric hoist can be mounted to a trolley. You would first need to mount this to a beam or steel pipe and bed. We do not sell I-beams separately but we have a wide variety of gantries and trolleys. Check out items 103181, 14511.

Question

what is head requirements?

How much room is lost from top of hoist channel brackets to the upper most point the cable will reach? For example if from the top of the hoist brackets to the highest point the cable will reach is 2 feet I would say it had a 2 foot head. if the hoist was attached to the top of an 8 foot ceiling you would only be able to lift load 6 feet . So if you had a 7 foot shelf you would not be able to use the hoist . I am trying to determine how high a shelving unit can be

This will require steel pipe that is rated for the 1100 lb capacity of the winch. The hangers are included to fit over pipe. We do not carry hangers to attach to a beam.

The Northern Industrial electric hoist is designed to be used for lifting only. It should not be used for pulling or dragging. For this type of operation, may we suggest a winch.
