While this winch could be mounted onto a truck bed crane, we do not recommend it. Because this winch has a clutch, we only recommend using for pulling, and not lifting.

This utility winch is not rated for lifting, winches are intended for pulling horizontally. Hoists are for lifting items off the ground. We don't carry 12 volt hoists, but we do have a 24 volt(battery power) PullzAll that can be used for lifting. Click the link below to view the PullzAll. It has a 1000 lb. working load capacity.

Staff Answer
A solenoid is an electromagnetic switch. When electricity is sent to the solenoid, a magnetic field forms causing the circuit to complete and the winch motor to move either forward or backward depending on which solenoids are activated. The purpose of using a solenoid in a winch is keep the power localized. In other words, if a solenoid were not used the entire amount of current that is being used by the winch would need to flow through the remote. By using the solenoid, the remote is able to use just a small amount of current that activates the solenoid to complete the circuit to the winch.
