When dealing with wood products like this one that are built out of wood slats there is no such thing as water/weather-proof. That being said, if you seal it well with a stain/sealer that also has a UV protector in it you will certainly make it much more weather resistant. Your cushions will almost surely be kept more dry, but some leakage is bound to occur. If you need a water/weather-proof storage box I recommend solid form storage containers made from extruded plastics similar to the suncast line of products so there are very few joints where leakage can occur.

answer 3
The sides and top are tongue-in-groove cedar planks and will prevent water and other forms of precipitation from entering. The bottom is similar to a shipping pallet. Water could splash up from the bottom.

no this is not waterproof.
and this can be stained and refinished.
it does have the cedar smell
I stained and refinished the outside only so as to keep the cedar smell. the inside bottom is just wooden slats so very small item can fall thru.

It is cedar so it is insect and water-resistant. It may be useful to apply a waterseal to it in order to protect it from water and uv damage.

It comes unfinished, but it's cedar so it's already weather resistant. I intend to stain/seal mine. If it will be exposed to the weather and you stain it I recommend you use a product that will not only seal it, but that also has a UV protector in it.

It is unfinished. I used Thompson's cedar-toned waterseal and it looks nice, though the cedar tone is a little light.
