The main purpose of this item is to maintain a fully charged battery in a vehicle when that vehicle is not in use for an extended period. While it is possible to provide a charge to a battery with this unit it would take a very long time in direct sunlight to recharge a dead battery because it provides such a low charge rate (0.15 Amps). For a situation such as your camper battery, I would recommend a charger that will provide a higher charge rate. See link below for more details.

I have not seen a difference. I like using the cigarette lighter outlet becuase the panel can sit on the dashboard and be plugged in. I can jump in my vehicle, unplug it, and put it somewhere where it won't get in the way until I park.

The key is that your outlet cannot be switched off with the key off. You need constast 12V DC power so that it can charge your battery with the engine off.

It depends on the vehicle you use it on. Some vehicles 12 volt outlets inside the car are only on when the vehicle key is on. If that's not the case though, it will work just as well plugged into the cigarette lighter.

It will not charge but will use the power comming out of it so it uses less power from your battery. I isn't going to charge your battery like you think it would. Works great on small batteries like a motorcycle or jetski or ATV. If you are going to use a solar pannel on your boat use the 12"x12" pannel. You will be so happy with it and it will save your battery and will extend the life it your battery.

yes it would work, but it will not charge enough to overcome a power drain like a trolling motor. It's a maintainer not a charger. It's more for maintaining your battery while your boat is being stored.

Yes it would. Even though the output of the panel is 20 Volts, once hooked to your battery, it will bring it down it around 12 volts and wont damage your equipment. I would suggest something bigger for a longer trip though.

This will work great on keeping a motorcycle battery topped off, especially if you can place the solar cell near a south facing window. It will charge from only by the light during the day, but if you can place it in the sunlight it will work twice as good.
The unit is not waterproof, although a little bit of moisture does not seem to affect it.

Yes it should be ok but make sure you disconnect this item before you start the generator. This item is not designed to be connected to a running car or generator. Its only designed to trickle charge the battery when the vehicle or generator is not in use. I have heard reports that the panel tends to warm up when people forget to disconnect it before starting the car.

Yes, this NPower solar battery maintainer will charge your 12 volt sealed lead acid batteries.

However, this unit is not for outdoor mounting, I would use the NPower powersports charger due to it being water resistant.

yes, it should work for you, depending on the power drain, as it is a battery maintainer and not a charger. If there is constant drain from lights or motors I do not think it would keep up.

Yes, this maintainer will keep the battery in your generator in good condition so that it is ready to go when you need it. It can stay connected all the time without causing damage to the battery. It will not over charge. The use of the ring terminal set that is posted in the product recommendations will make an easy way to connect and disconnect the maintainer. See link below for details.

Question

Can this be used to keep a BIG TRUCK(Semi) battery charged?

I was thinking about buying these for my brother-in-law & step Dad for Christmas. They both are OTR Truck Drivers. With big trucks, there is usually a lot of times a need to jump start, especially in winter months. This would be very helpful if they work with BIG TRUCK batteries. Thanks

Yes, this unit could be used on truck batteries, however I would recommend using a panel with a higher wattage output and a charge controller because of the higher power requirements of a battery bank in a semi. See link below for more details.

It doesn't really matter what size the batteries are if you're using this only to maintain, rather than try to recharge a discharged battery. It depends more on the condition of the battery and if you have any accessories connected that draw power when the engine's not running.
The 1.8W would be about 140mA of charging current, but only in full sunlight. Since most locations doesn't have the sun shining all day, it would be more in the range of 30mA.. If that's enough to cover the self discharge of the battery with any accessories, then it should work.
If you're expecting this to charge a battery you've run down, it won't work very well with the tiny current, as opposed to a real charger putting out several thousand mA.
