The splitter came delivered to me on a pallet. Once you remove the splitter from the pallet and before installing the 3pt brackets and attachments, it will take up very little room. I could fit it into the back of my Jeep Liberty! Seriously! Now once you put the brackets on and all the hydraulics, it gets a little bigger. I would just recommend waiting till you get to your destination to assemble or if you already have it assembled, simply remove the brackets while transporting in your car! Only warning I have...This thing is NOT a toy...it is built extremely well and is VERY HEAVY!!!

Question

How will splitters hydraulics be operated?

The owners manual for my New Holland TC45D tractor says for the remote hydraulics,"to operate the single spool valve, pull lever to retract cylinder, push lever the extend cylinder". Does this mean that I will have to operate the splitter from the lever on the tractor? Or will I be able to bungee cord the tractor lever and use the lever on the splitter?

Once this splitter is properly connected to your tractor, you should be able to use the valve on this splitter exclusively. Please contact your local implement dealer for for questions specific to your brand of tractor.

I have a John Deee 4600 which is similar to the New Holland. The JD 4600 has hydraulic ports with quick-connect fittings to operate the loader. I just connected the IN line from the splitter to the "tip" (lift) port on the tractor loader and the OUT line to the "tilt" (dump) port then bungied the lever to the "tip" (lift) position. I can operate the splitter from the lever on the splitter. The John Deere dealer stated that as long as the hydraulic cylinder on the splitter had a flow through valve and that the ports used on the tractor were paired it would work fine. It does. Hope this helps.

There is not a minimum GPM flow rate for this unit. It will accept a maximum of 11GPM. This splitter will offer the best performance at maximum flow.

The maximum psi rating on this Powerhorse Log Splitter is 3000, and the GPM is 11. It would not be recommended.

At maximum flow (11gpm) The travel time of the wedge is 7 seconds in one direction 14 seconds down and back. When the flow is reduced to 7.9 gpm, the time would be increased to approximately 8 to 10 seconds in one direction and 16 to 20 seconds down and back.

The Powerhorse brand, developed by Northern Tool and Equipment has gone through extensive testing and has proved to be an extremely popular choice for consumers.

No, I would not recommend using this splitter on your tractor. This item is made to work the best with a hydraulic system that will provides 11 GPM and 3000 PSI. The specs for your John Deere 755 state that the hydraulic system is supplying 5.6 GPM and 2050 PSI. While this splitter could be hooked up to your tractor the performance will be poor.
