You do not have to use an inline oiler, you can do it by hand. If you do oil it by hand if it is used a lot during the day you will need to oil it 2-3 times. It is also important when you are done and putting away for storage to put a couple drops of oil in the gun and bump the trigger so the oil goes up into the inlet to keep it from rusting. The gun is all metal.

answer 2
Put about five drops of air tool oil in the air fitting before each use. This will also work for every day use as well. If you will not be using it much, put five drops in it and run it for a couple seconds before putting it in your tool box.
