They are not designed for that kind of duty cycle. With that said i have left mine on for a few days at a time 5 or 6 times and no problem. Obviously my situation was not catastrophic if it failed.
My pump is about 4 years old.

This clear water pump will run constantly until you shut it off as it does not have a pressure switch. It carries a 33% duty cycle so for every minute on it needs 2 minutes to cool down with a max usage time of 3 minutes, 18 seconds in any 10 minute period.

Question

I'm looking for a pump to pump dirty water out of my pond.

This pump has 1" in/outlet, which is larger than others that are for 5/8 garden hose... but it says clearwater so, I'm not sure if it will work with dirty freshwater. Can anyone tell me if it'll be easy to clog up?

Thanks!

The Ironton Clear Water Pump will not accept any solids. This would work with gray water but not water has any debris in it. A strainer could be used on the end of the suction hose to prevent clogging of the pump.

It will work. I just posted to this pump. I used it to pump through a 1IN line to feed a couple sprinklers about 250-300ft up a moderate hill. My pond is as dirty as yours. I had a screen with a foot valve on it. I kept it off the bottom out of the mud. I used it regularly for about 2 months. I put it in the garage and came to get it today. It was seized. If you don't use it year round, you'd better bump test it every couple of weeks or so to keep it from seizing. I had to move to a different pump, but if you use it regular, it's not too bad.

As stated my manufacture rep its only "rated" for cold water.
I have personally used them to pump waste vegetable oil up to 190 deg for less than 5 minutes at a time with no problems and for hours at 150 deg and less.
