It is only designed for temporary use as in to be used with a river or a lake type of application.

It could of course be hooked up but that is not the purpose of this pump - you really want this to have a free flow (not restricted as in an irrigation spray head) for it to work well. This is a trash pump not a well pump for irrigation. Think of how your regular well pump works - it has a pressure tank so the pump can run at full capacity to charge the pressure tank and turn off until the pressure drops from the flow to the heads, then it turns on again. This pump just runs and wants an even flow for fluids to pump away from a source.
