answer 2
All Haldex two-stage pumps are a 4:1 ratio. That is, the theoretical GPM when the unloader activates (around 700 PSI) will be one fourth the free-flow rating. Therefore, the approximate GPM when in high pressure mode will be 7.

Question

How do you determine engine size to pump size?

I will be building my own log splitter this winter. How do you match up engine size to pump size? I know I can always do the "bigger is better" logic, but it can also waste money. I split a lot of red oak, but some of these are 24-30" in diameter and the red oak has laughed at more than one splitter!

The detent valve you could use on this pump would be item #20114. This can be used at up to 30 GPM. We do not have a strainer for any larger than the 25 GPM. We do have a filter, item #778649 that would work with this system.
